trer asked:

Which provider has better overall service and prices in the long run? Should I go with the DIrect TV and Time Warner Road Runner INternet option or just get everything through Time Warner. I live in Los Angeles.

    definitely direct TV

direct TV bittes if it rains to bad you are screwed, and once you add up all the channels you want it costs more

  • LabRat:

You should get cable internet and see if it also includes a live feed.

both are really bad when it comes to customer service. direct tv seems more user friendly when it comes to the actual receivers and dvr’s. time warner might have better prices though.

I have direct TV and I love it—if you get it I have a coupon for free installation, free starz for 3 months and some other stuff. You have to get the DVR it is great—I think it is like 5 dollars but well worth it

I used to live in LA and had cable. Now I have DirecTV. I would NEVER go back!!! DirecTV is just SOOOOO much better and if you have HDTV it’s no contest!

Time Warner is a joke, now that I look back there was just so many glitches I can’t believe I stuck with them that long.

time Warner is what we have and then we have road runner and we love it. they have great bundle packages that save you money and it’s not in a contract like direct TV. And if you move then you can call the cable people and they move with you… I think they said in direct TV that if we move that we still have to pay but then you have to redo it or something crazy like that… we are military that’s why moving is a big deal when we get into contracts.!!

I am not sure about the prices in LA, but I can tell you that I had Direct TV and got lousy reception due to the fact that there is heavy tree cover around my house.

The trees interfered with the satellite signal. Of coarse, they didn’t tell me it would be a problem when they installed it.

The same during heavy rains. No service.

Keep in mind, that in most parts of LA, you can get really good HD/Digital reception with a basic rabbit ears antenna. Less channels, but it’s free, and a lot of the HD content is a better picture than either cable or satellite.

Remember that when something breaks time warner fixes it for free…direct TV charges a bunch of cash just to come out and tell you that their installer installed it wrong……

I have Directv and I’m pretty pleased with it except for when it rains or snows heavy……..The signal is usually lost for anywhere up to an hour most times………..I don’t know that much about Time Warner but I do know for sports packages Directv is the better one…………If you’re looking to combine telephone, computer and TV then, from the little I do know you get a good deal with Time Warner……….CAT

Go for Dish Network Satellite. Prices start at a mere $19.99/mo. Cable prices tend to change quite a bit.
