Well right now we have Dish Network and we bought a new Sony Bravia tv. And the quality isn’t that good. So we were told to buy Hd box. Well we don’t qualify for a new hd box. So we have to buy it for 200. But we could also switch to directv and they offer a free HdDVR and free showtime for three months. Which is better? Which has more Hd Channels? help please.

I bought a Sony HDTV last year. I have the regular analog cable service with Cox and I recieve a couple of the local channels in hi-def though Cox. I have been thinking about getting Cox’s Hi-def service but I know if would have to switch to their more expensive digital service. I had their digital service for awhile but just didn’t think the channels availble where worth the extra money. I have my internet service through Cox also. I would be interested to here if anyone has their package deal that includes digital, internet, and telephone (what they think of it and what there monthly bill runs).

How can you tell which shows are broadcast in 5.1 and which are not?

I’m looking at the channel discriptions and I dont see anything regarding audio.

So I have U-verse at my house with a Sony KDL-46Z5100. My Mom has Cox cable with a Sony KDL-40VL160. My TV is supposed to be higher end obviously. Her HD picture with Cox looks absolutely awesome. My HD with U-verse looks like I’m watching it on my 60hz Vizio I bought in 2005.

Does anybody else who has U-verse experiencing a similar situation? I understand some providers use more compression than others? As far as I know they both broadcast 1080i. I’m tempted to trek my TV the hour drive to her house and hook it up to Cox to see if it is in fact the U-Verse that is lacking.

Unfortunately Cox isn’t available in my area, but Time Warner is. I’d love to hear your reviews and feedback. Maybe I’m doing something wrong with the settings? THANKS for the help!!!
