depends on the installer, and the co. that he works for. he may be a directv employee, a sub-contractor or an independent retailer. either way expect to to pay at time of install .anything over $20.00 for a $4.00 pole and a $2.00 worth of cement is to much

  • Bud:

I was charged nothing. Be carefull because some installers will try to scam you into buying cables that come with the receiver. Call DIRECTV to make sure, but the pole should be free with a standard installation.

  • D. Sypha:

the standard install does not cost anything. but a pole mount will cost. it is whats considered custom work. not standard installation. there is no directv employees. they are considered H.S.P’s (home service providers). i work for an hsp in albuquerque new mexico. we charge 75.00 for our pole mounts. it will be around that. i know it is very expensive for a pole and concrete….it is actually for the labor of installing the pole mount. NOW….it all depends on what u are getting….is it high def or standard def….here is what u need…..to save 65.00!!!

The 75.00 is due at time of install…u will have to pay the tech.

    post hole digger.
    60 pound bag of quickrete
1-5/8 pole (for standard dish) or 2”od pole for high def.
    level…

it will save u money…unless u want to shell out the cash and save your labor…

    hope this helps…

  • I absolutely am loving this web site!!! 100 % gonna must set this on my bookmarks.

  • D. Sypha, does the pole needs to be exactly 2″ OD? or it can be a little bit smaller, I already went to THD and Lowes but I can’t find exactly a 2″ I found a PVC which like 1 3/4, would it work? please help me!

  • Rick:

Installer says I need a 2″ OD pipe for a pole mount. Where do i find 2″ OD pipe? All standard sizes at the hardward stores are 2″ID. I’m being told 2″OD is not very common. Thx.

  • KG:

    To Macgyver at the top:
Find a 6’1 5/8″ pole for under 10 bucks and even try to find a 2″pole at all . It is very hard and about 20 bucks. Add concrete and labor and 75 bucks is a fair price. Not all installers are rip offs. If I got to your house and the pole was not plumb to my satisfaction I would not do the install (our work can be inspected and we can be charged back for failure )and you would have wasted your own time and money.
